The Challenge
Delivering last minute tickets is always a challenge. A bigger challenge is to promote last minute tickets when an event is under-sold predominantly due to limitations of distributing content, taking the order and fulfilling the order – in this instance the ticket receipt.
Traditional Ticketing faces many inherent challenges:
- Limitations on late an event can be promoted prior to the starting of the event
- High cost of delivery of tickets through registered mail
- Limited ability to collect data to tie the purchase and redemption of tickets
- Security concerns relating to ticket touts and malredemptions
- High cost of integration and deployment for one off events
The Solution
RAPOS™ has been successfully used at various events to deliver mobile tickets.
The customer purchases the ticket on the web, through IVR, a call center or through WAP/SMS. The ticket is delivered in the form of a mobile phone barcode or a PIN delivered via SMS. The mobile barcode is read at the venue by a standalone RAPOS™ terminal and a ticket is printed with relevant information (seat number, name, show details etc.)
Benefits of the solution:
- Promote tickets sales to the target audience right until the last minute before the show begins
- Deliver tickets instantaneously onto customers mobile phones’ at a fraction of the cost
- Redeem tickets securely at the event without manual intervention
- Conduct CRM campaign activity with the data collected on purchase and redemption behaviour to drive future sales
- Ease of access to tickets for the customers – no need to queue up to collect tickets or remember to bring them (or to worry about losing them) or purchase them several hours before the event
- Set up an event without the need to integrate with POS or ticketing systems
Diagram
Step 1: Customer purchases a ticket for an event. Instead of opting for a paper ticket to be sent through the post, a unique barcode is sent to their mobile phone.
Step 2: Once at the venue the customer collects the tickets by swiping their mobile over a RAPOSNet terminal.
Step 3: The RAPOSNet terminal sends the ticket request to the RAPOS™ server which validates and authenticates the barcode. A ticket confirmation is sent back to the RAPOSNet terminal. Data is captured at this point.
Step 4: Once the ticket confirmation is received by the RAPOS™ server a ticket is printed out.
Reports on customer activity and redemption levels are then available online through RAPOS™ manager.
