The largest wireless conference in the world, the 3GSM World Congress, kicks off February 13-16 at its new venue in the Fira de Barcelona. The conference programme features keynote speeches from leaders in industry, amongst who, Arun Sarin of Vodafone will be featuring as a keynote in the opening session ‘Setting the industry agenda for 2006’ and Peter Erskine from 02 will be interviewed on ‘The Convergence of Telecoms, Media & Entertainment and the content distribution business’. The congress is divided up in to a number of streams including a Technology Symposium, Products & Services and The Mobile Entertainment Summit.

Ramesh Kumar will be joining a panel of experts in the mobile marketing field at the Mobile Entertainment Summit, including Nihal Metha from Ipsh! and Richard Reece from Merlin Mobile, to discuss the different promotional tools that can drive take-up and usage of the big content based services. The panel will look at promotional tools for mobile environment, share knowledge from campaigns to understand the impact of promotional activities and answer questions relating to operators involvement in using promotional tools and their acceptance. The session will be chaired by Darren Siddall, Principal at Gartner Group and will be preceded by presentations by Michael Birkel CEO of 12snap and Akihisa Fujita, President of D2 Communications, covering case studies in mobile marketing.

The summit ‘is the global forum for entertainment and content brands to come together with the mobile industry as the two worlds converge at break neck speed. The sessions will feature the world’s most recognisable brands and address the key issues, identify the opportunities and act as a platform to define the path to the future of the mobile infotainment business.’
